Respite Care
Short-term care stays that provide caregivers with a well-deserved break and offer individuals the opportunity to experience life at Comficare.
Taking a Break When You Need It
Caring for a loved one is one of the most meaningful things a person can do, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Respite care at Comficare is here to give you the space and time you need to rest, recharge, and attend to your own wellbeing, with the complete reassurance that your loved one is in safe, professional hands.
Our respite stays also offer individuals the chance to recover from illness or surgery, trial residential living, or simply enjoy the community and lifestyle that Comficare offers. Short- term guests receive the same high standard of care and access to the same facilities and activities as our permanent residents.

FAQs
How do I access respite care through the government?
To access government-subsidised respite care, you will first need to complete an eligibility assessment through My Aged Care. Once assessed and approved, funding may be available through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme or your Home Care Package. You may be eligible for up to 63 days of subsidised residential respite care per year. This can be
extended in 21-day increments with approval from your aged care assessor. Please visit www.myagedcare.gov.au or call 1800 200 422 for further information.
What does respite care cost?
All residential respite guests pay a basic daily fee, which is set by the Australian Government at 85 per cent of the single basic age pension. This fee is updated twice yearly in March and September. Additional costs may apply depending on your individual circumstances. Please contact our team to discuss the full fee structure and your available funding options.
